2024 will mark the third annual Festival of Lessons and Carols at Crown College. The service of Scripture readings and Christmas music has its origins in King's College, Cambridge, where it was first presented in 1918. The nine Scripture readings, or Lessons, are taken from both the Old and New Testaments, starting with Genesis 3, culminating with John 1, and presenting the story of Christ from prophesy to His birth. The music, which changes from year to year, is interspersed throughout the Festival, with some performed by the Crown College Choir and others by the congregation. This year, choir anthems include "Angels, from the Realms of Glory" with brass ensemble, arranged by Dan Wells, "Sing We Now of Christmas," arranged by Kyle Pederson, and a rendition of "We Three Kings" arranged by Russell Robinson in the style of the famous jazz number, "Take Five." The event is free and open to the public, though seating is limited.
Following the concert, there will be a private reception for Alumni and Family hosted in the Fireside Room. This event is also free; however an RSVP is appreciated.
